When we got home from the garden...

It was just coincidence but last Monday the 17th after stopping at the garden as shown in the last post, when we got home we found that the cover of the Solstice had been pulled off. Now its not ever windy where the cars are parked so we wondered what had happened. When we got close enough to see I was stunned!! I could see exactly what had happened, one of the stay cats that live in the area had apparently taken refuge on top of the car from our neighbors terrier. Bad and deep scratches on both doors, left front wheel area and by the right headlight.
Both Stacy and I point out where the dog "Andy" had been biting the car! Four little teeth dents! And below the drivers side door scratches. Stacy had wanted me to let it slide, and on Monday that was probably a really good thing for me to do since I was so angry over it. Last night though "Andy" was back in our yard barking at us so that was it! I took copies of these photos and went over to talk to Andy's 'parents'. I showed them the photos and luckily they were upset and immediately offered to pay for the damage, boy that seldom happened in all my years in animal control!, and said they'd "try" to do better at keeping Andy home. They have about four dogs, and we seldom see them all at once, all small terrier types but Andy's the only one that likes to roam around.
Tomorrow I'm taking the Solstice over for an estimate, luckily when I washed off the scratched areas the scratches themselves as shown in theses photos were highlighted by the dirt and many almost disappeared when wiped clean. I'll see what the shop says but at least the the two areas, bite marks and scratches by the wheel and really bad scratches by the headlight and hood will definitely have to be repaired. The shop is optimistic though and said at the photos most may not be bad and can be rubbed out. He didn't know about those bites though!
At least the damage wasn't any worse like if he'd actually been able to get up and slide around on the car, might have damaged the soft top then also. One of the reasons for getting the cover was to keep the cats directly off the soft top. Now I just wonder if the cat was so stupid to stay on the car and not get away or the dog was so stupid to continue attacking the cover and car with the cat long gone! I'll never know! But I am perfectly willing to let Andy's folks pay for at least half of the cost of the reapair.

Other family news,
Sandy will be teaching two classes at USC this fall and is stressing about it because her job and it's job related travel, might start to interfere with preparing for, and teaching, her classes. She left today for another week in Mumbai India. Her company might have a project starting in Africa soon also. Plus she's meeting with us in Wyoming for the relatives wedding we're going to in September. She'll only be out with us for two days, but she's the designated wedding photographer at her cousin's request. Stacy and I are going for two reasons, first the area, in the Tetons and I want to take some photos and secondly, we have to be in nearby Idaho Falls for four days for work right afterword so why not?
Anyplace else and we probably wouldn't go, its the nieces second marriage and we'd been at the first.

Till next time, Tad

WoW, Tad in reading the blog this week and finding out what the cats and Andy did to your car I would be upset also finding out all the damages,it is nice that Andy's parents will take care part of the cost of damages,it seems to me that if the other dogs don't come over why not make it so Andy can't either.. Fair is fair....thank goodness for insurance...Hopefully this coming week will be better for the two of you.. Catch you both later..

A Historic Day

Yes, one way or the other it will be a historic day today, Election Day in the USA, 2016. Either the "crooked" lifetime politician and first woman to be the president will win or the proven somewhat unstable "megalomaniac" and itching to start a war businessman will win. Personally, I voted for Clinton. A proven lifetime politician outweighs the alternative in my opinion. I heard a comment of with Clinton it will be "The Hunger Games" part one, with Trump it would be "The Hunger Games" part 2!! In our neck of the woods, early voting and absentee voting has been going on for over two months. We voted a couple of weeks ago. Above, in the lobby of the County Courthouse, four early voting stations had been set up for several weeks. 2 non the right and 2 on the left at the desk behind that sign. Below, I took a 'stealth' photo of some people voting. You never can tell in North Idaho what will set off people so I didn't want...

What's been going on since July 24th, the last posting

Stacy to California , On Saturday the 26th Stacy left to drive to Northern California to help out and be with daughter Sandy as the birthday approached for the new grand daughter to be born. As Sandy was going to have a C-section birth, so the actual date was pretty well planned, Sandy had called and was concerned that there was a possibility that new baby would be a bit earlier than anticipated. So with that call Stacy left two days earlier than planned to be there that much sooner and before the doctor's visit to find out one way or the other on the due date. So Stacy made the around 1,000 mile trip in two long days and was there by Sunday night. By the doctor check up on Tuesday morning, the concerns were lessened and the timetable was back on track for the birth on the first of August. Stacy had a great time with almost 2 year old grand daughter Justine, giving mom Sandy a much needed break before starting it all up again with the new baby. Friday August 1st, originally had...

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...
