A Historic Day

Yes, one way or the other it will be a historic day today, Election Day in the USA, 2016.
Either the "crooked" lifetime politician and first woman to be the president will win or the proven somewhat unstable "megalomaniac" and itching to start a war businessman will win.

Personally, I voted for Clinton. A proven lifetime politician outweighs the alternative in my opinion.
I heard a comment of with Clinton it will be "The Hunger Games" part one, with Trump it would be "The Hunger Games" part 2!!

In our neck of the woods, early voting and absentee voting has been going on for over two months.
We voted a couple of weeks ago.

Above, in the lobby of the County Courthouse, four early voting stations had been set up for several weeks. 2 non the right and 2 on the left at the desk behind that sign.
Below, I took a 'stealth' photo of some people voting. You never can tell in North Idaho what will set off people so I didn't want to chance it and take the photo in plain view.

Idaho is a RED state with not a big population base, most live in the South end of the state anyway, and 4 Electoral votes, and most people are pro Trump and ones that aren't, like me, don't talk about it! They had been pro Ted Cruz who I think would have been worse than Trump, but then he lost to Trump. Just as like Obama in 2012, many have already been griping for months about how "Crooked Hillary" better not try to get our guns! I heard for years! Like Obama was going to come all the way up here and personally go door to door looking for guns! It NEVER happened and won't with Clinton either, should she win as predicted.
Anyway, some will be happy, some will be mad, at this point, 5 p.m. Pacific time, it is still too close to call and many will wake up to the news.
Our local ballot had only about 10 things to vote on including the president. I remember the California ballots were pages long and the balloting books going over the things to vote on were literally books!
At least this year will be one for the record books no matter how it turns out. Record turn outs are assured. Even here, in Bonners Ferry, the early voting has been more than most have ever seen and many are voting that never had before.

What will we all do without the craziest reality TV show ever created ?

It looks like our first non-white Christmas since moving to North Idaho.

As I had said the last post, while winter is here now, it just isn't here ! Two hours north, in the Cranbrook, Canada region, cold and snow. About two-hours east, in the Kalispell, Montana area, winter is there too with cold and snow! This area, more like late fall continued with overcast and cloudy with temps in the low 30s at night and high 30s in the daytime. Maybe some rain in the next day or so or a trace of snow overnight to melt away with the "high" temps for what used to be normal for this time of the year. Last week if the temps had not gone into the 40s with heavy rain by Saturday we would have some snow but the temps and the rain washed it all away. I checked with my records from last year and on December 23rd we had gotten 4-inches of snow. Not much but still a white Christmas. Christmas Day we had heavy snow showers but not much new accumulation. This morning the low was 33 degrees with a high expected to be 36 degrees. Sad face! I like the winters her...

So, Winter Decided It Wasn't Done Quite Yet Around Here!

After last weeks post of me talking about the somewhat short winter so far, it got cold! I mean really cold over the weekend, like two mornings with the lows of +8 (-13C) and +9 (-12C) and 'highs' around 25 (-3C). No one I had talked with thought it would be that THAT cold again this season! Then last night, 02/13/18, there had been a "Winter Storm Watch" issued for the time period of 10 PM Tuesday to 12 noon Wednesday for "up to" 11 inches of snow. Luckily, we didn't get anything near that with about 4 inches overnight and the snow stopped around 10 am and warmed into the mid-30s during the day so what had fallen had begun to melt, clearing off the roads and walkways but staying on the grass. However, for its last blast, we still could get a few more inches of accumulation between now and next Sunday the 18th. Then, the long-term forecast has the daytime temps going back into the mid to upper 30s again in about a week. We'll see! On Monday t...

First posting

Ah the choices of setting this up! It will take a little time to 'fine tune' the page, but its a start. Okay so what have we been doing? Well, two weeks ago now Stacy and I went to visit with Mike and Brenda to see their new home as well as visit with my Father and Mother who were visiting. We had to work around Stacy's days off so it was a three day visit with one day there and two travel days. All the storms flooding and disaster in the Seattle area happened right after we'd left. It was a great visit and we really like the new home. I haven't been able to see any of them since last year so I really liked the visit and getting together again. We got the grand area tour which was nice since I'd never spent any time in that part of the state before. The area is very picturesque. Mike's home is very near the flight paths of the area navy base and that brought back memories of our home in California. The first few years we lived there George A.F.B. was still ...
