Since my last post was some more old Animal Control memories, I forgot to mention some other noteworthy info.

Brother Mike has settled into his new home near Seattle. He sent most people a very comprehensive photo tour of the house, looks pretty nice!
Monday the 15th was "Ride to Work Day" a day to show your support and enthusiasm for motorcycles by riding to work. Well' I'd fully planned to ride that day, I was looking forward to it actually since I had to go to Sandpoint for an all day class. Unfortunately that morning it decided to literally P O U R! It rained very hard all the way to Sandpoint then went to off and on rain the rest of the day.
Oh, the class? It was to learn to fill out a new state form to try to get everyone "on the same page" for records that follow 'clients' as they move about the different counties in the state.

Today Stacy is down in Coeur D' Alene for meetings with the department supervisor. It's a very windy summer day, highs in the mid 70's, but no rain predicted for the near future. On days like today Stacy may or may not get back before closing so I rode the Motorcycle so if she doesn't I don't have to wait. I recently got a 'half cover' from E-bay for the Gold Wing so instead of parking in the Sun all day or having to bring the full cover from home, I could park under the shade of the trees near the courthouse and not worry about tree or bird droppings on it. This time of year many of the area trees leave a mist of oily residue on anything near them. Its a pain to wash off too. Not as bad as tree sap, but its a mess none the less.
Sandy is now in India as I'd mentioned her trip last post.

Laura is still sore but already back at work from her auto vs her work truck accident last weekend. Like I'd mentioned last post, she did get rattled by the accident but she said that the air bag deployment is what caused most of her injury and pain. In e-mailed photos her Dodge truck didn't look damaged much at all. The guys car looked totaled but he's supposed to have continued on with the wet roads there and plowed into other things from bouncing off Laura's work truck after he ran the stoplight.

Relatively short post this time as I can't think of much else to say!
Type later, Tad

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...

"SouthLAnd", the TV show and our experiences.

Just watched the premiere episode of this new show "Southland" during my lunch today on HULU. It premieres on Thursday night at 10 PM on NBC, it's the ER replacement experiment. It was pretty good overall, it tries to be more real and more "COPS" than COPS, but for an overall view of some real life in the big city it works, even if it is a scripted TV show. You can check it right now and watch it on hulu.com About 15 minutes into the show was a realistic call that involved the new rookie officer and his experienced training officer (the actor that plays this guy usually plays hard arsed bad guys), they are responding to a DB which means Dead Body call with dogs in the house. After taking a look they call out Animal Control and after the ACO's come out and get the dogs the police officers go and check inside to find the dead guy and that his dogs, locked up with no way out, had munched on their deceased owner. The sight made the 'rookie' guy sick and...

Life as "retired"

Yes, I am now retired! 5-months ago. It was weird at first; seemed like I was just off work for a few days.  I had to drive to southern California for most of the month of April, which added to that 'on vacation' feel.  The first long trip in over two years. It was something; gas was very expensive but even more so in California!  I was glad to take our Rav4. I had been planning to take our truck. However, just a week before, we'd taken it in to get checked out, which was a major expense and a wait for the parts, so I took the Toyota. It saved a lot of money, although I planned to take the truck and the small trailer for a room instead of moteling it.  With the high cost of ..... everything!, would it have saved as much as I'd hoped? Probably not in reality, but it worked as it did. As the Rav4 is a hybrid, I was able to get an average of 37 mpg, and that was keeping the adaptive cruise control set about 66 to 69 miles per hour which is plenty fast, even with m...
