All of the photos in this group were taken on the way there and on the way back on the San Jose, California trip in July 2012. Top photo was our first rest stop after crossing the border Inspection Station on I-5 in Northern Calif. It was SO HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! Below is a photo of Mt. Shasta as we get closer.
Above was the morning view at the RV park we stayed at in Redding, Calif. It was over 100 degrees when we checked in the evening before, and was already in the mid 70s when I took this photo the next day. The Sacramento River runs right behind the RV park and it was a place I wouldn't mind staying at again, if it's cooler!
Above and below- STUCK in Winnemucca! The truck was towed to the shop and since we weren't going anywhere Stacy and I decided to check out the small pool they had at the RV park that afternoon. It was very hot there and the trailers A/C unit ran constantly the entire time we were plugged in.
Below is a photo from the pool area showing the clouds building for the daily afternoon thunderstorms in Winnemucca. Getting the truck fixed lightened our bank account by $900.00 but in all of our travels it was the first, and hopefully last!, major breakdown we'll ever experience.
Above was the last morning of the trip as we're getting ready to leave the RV park at the Wild Horse Casino near Pendleton Oregon. A pretty decent RV park especially for the overnight cost, but the Wi-Fi didn't work well and it was also pretty hot overnight there to. Another place I wouldn't mind staying at again when it gets cooler!
Below is what waited for us to find when we got back home. Temps in the 90s not the 70s as predicted and this approximately 50 or 60 foot tall, now long!, tree that had somehow been blown over, roots and all, out of a small group of trees near our house. It took out my weather station and is right up against the house. That downstairs door couldn't be opened with the tree right there. The balcony was covered with branches and little pine cones but very luckily no damage to the house. 10 feet to the left and it could have taken out the deck or even some of our bedroom.
Oh well, the next weekend it was all cut up for firewood, take that tree!!, and the branches taken to the dump. So now except for the bits of wood from the chainsaws it doesn't look like anything ever happened now.
That's it for now, till next time. Tad
