First cut of Alfalfa

The photos here are from the spot I've been taking photos and posting for the past few months. The cutting bailing the rolls of hay were delayed a bit due to the cooler and wetter than usual weather. But finally done and rolled this was how it looked on last Monday morning.

Today, Friday, and its cold, rainy and 56 outside. About 25 degrees cooler than it was last year at this time. The hay rolls had been taken away and stored earlier in the week for use and resale.
Usually these fields provide two more cuts of Alfalfa, we'll have to see how the weather cooperates.
Looking back across the neighbors field towards our property on the left of the photo.

This July 4th we'll be staying in our area. We might go so I can take photos of the fireworks from the roof of the building, or we might not. They don't start until 10 PM so getting there taking the photos and then getting back might make it kinda late so we're not sure yet. Last year we'd taken the trailer and spent the weekend in Canada at the Fort Steele historical town. A lot of fun but it was very hot last year. Predicted to be in the low 90's by next Thursday, maybe our one or two weeks of really hot weather will come and go and it can stay in the 70's to low 80's like it has for the most part so far.

Other family news, today my father is/was to have a procedure done to electrically help get his heart working as it should. He spent several tense, for him and us!, days last week in the hospital. he was sent back home with an appointment to come back today for the procedure.
Last Tuesday was brother Darrel and his wife Connie's wedding anniversary. Of course even with all the electronic reminders I forgot to get a card off on time so they got the congratulatory E-mail. I guess not as nice as a card, but I remembered, even though last minute! Besides from 1984 is a noteworthy long time!

Laura is doing OK, still having tests done. Still not letting us know how she's doing but she did finally contact Stacy via e-mail once.
Sandy and Sean and their spouses are doing OK too, as far as we know that is! But it's summer, they're all pretty active and traveling locally often, that California lifestyle we don't miss!

Guess that's it for this week. Hope everybody has a great holiday where ever they are.

It looks like our first non-white Christmas since moving to North Idaho.

As I had said the last post, while winter is here now, it just isn't here ! Two hours north, in the Cranbrook, Canada region, cold and snow. About two-hours east, in the Kalispell, Montana area, winter is there too with cold and snow! This area, more like late fall continued with overcast and cloudy with temps in the low 30s at night and high 30s in the daytime. Maybe some rain in the next day or so or a trace of snow overnight to melt away with the "high" temps for what used to be normal for this time of the year. Last week if the temps had not gone into the 40s with heavy rain by Saturday we would have some snow but the temps and the rain washed it all away. I checked with my records from last year and on December 23rd we had gotten 4-inches of snow. Not much but still a white Christmas. Christmas Day we had heavy snow showers but not much new accumulation. This morning the low was 33 degrees with a high expected to be 36 degrees. Sad face! I like the winters her...

So, Winter Decided It Wasn't Done Quite Yet Around Here!

After last weeks post of me talking about the somewhat short winter so far, it got cold! I mean really cold over the weekend, like two mornings with the lows of +8 (-13C) and +9 (-12C) and 'highs' around 25 (-3C). No one I had talked with thought it would be that THAT cold again this season! Then last night, 02/13/18, there had been a "Winter Storm Watch" issued for the time period of 10 PM Tuesday to 12 noon Wednesday for "up to" 11 inches of snow. Luckily, we didn't get anything near that with about 4 inches overnight and the snow stopped around 10 am and warmed into the mid-30s during the day so what had fallen had begun to melt, clearing off the roads and walkways but staying on the grass. However, for its last blast, we still could get a few more inches of accumulation between now and next Sunday the 18th. Then, the long-term forecast has the daytime temps going back into the mid to upper 30s again in about a week. We'll see! On Monday t...

First posting

Ah the choices of setting this up! It will take a little time to 'fine tune' the page, but its a start. Okay so what have we been doing? Well, two weeks ago now Stacy and I went to visit with Mike and Brenda to see their new home as well as visit with my Father and Mother who were visiting. We had to work around Stacy's days off so it was a three day visit with one day there and two travel days. All the storms flooding and disaster in the Seattle area happened right after we'd left. It was a great visit and we really like the new home. I haven't been able to see any of them since last year so I really liked the visit and getting together again. We got the grand area tour which was nice since I'd never spent any time in that part of the state before. The area is very picturesque. Mike's home is very near the flight paths of the area navy base and that brought back memories of our home in California. The first few years we lived there George A.F.B. was still ...
