A little taste of winter yet to come

Three photos taken earlier today as the area got a little bit of snow. Nowhere near the predicted 1 to 3 inches (yet!) on the valley floors, but it looked nice to see some snow falling again. All the photos are views from my 2nd floor area, above is one of the Sheriff SUV's with the dusting of white.
Below is looking at a dark truck in the Safeway parking lot to show the snow falling.
And the last photo below show the snow sticking on the hillside above the highway that runs through town.

Since I took these, it has lightened up and warmed to about 34 outside so all the snow in these photos has melted. Oh well, it's usually just cold from now until near Christmas, then it snows and sticks until next March! One week from right this minute I'll be into my first full day in Missouri. And one month from right now, we'll be in Germany!

We are still having warm weather out here and wearing shorts it is suppose to be in the 80's this coming week.it has gotten down to freezing though at night here..Have a good tomorrow and week ahead.. Love and Hugs

I can't say it is on the warm side as it is about 30 outside at the moment and about in the 70's during the day time. I enjoy seeing all the photos you have included in your Blog.. It is time to get to bed so will close for now have a good week to the two of you..Love and Hugs

2021, the long hot summer of our discontent!

 Yes, it was one long HOT summer!  In addition to the record-breaking heat along the coastal ranges in Oregon, Washington, and into Canada, we saw temperatures in this Northern Idaho area I NEVER thought we would see again after moving away from the high desert of Southern California in 2006! The hottest temp was an afternoon high of 112 degrees (44.44 C) on June 30th. But, hot, hot days, too warm evenings, no rain so dusty and dry.  Record heat, the hottest weather ever recorded in Idaho, and, according to the stories, only the beginning of the heat that will probably be the "new normal" from this point on. Seems that the same "high-pressure bubble" that causes the cold and snow of winter weather to almost completely bypass our region of the pacific northwest in winter causes record heat in our same region of the pacific northwest in the summer! Since my last post, mainly, we have just been living and trying to avoid getting Covid. Stacy and I got our vaccinations...

Spring, and warmer weather is in the air!

  I had started this post on April 15th, now it's the 23rd so this is now history! Warmer temps, for a few days anyway. After the last few weeks of more like winter than spring temps, it is pushing 70-degrees (21.1 C) today! It's been clear, not windy like the last three days, and generally nice weather. We can only hope it will continue to be good weather with it not too dry for the late summer since it has been a dry winter and spring so far. The last time it was particularly dry it was a very bad summer for Hornets. Most places in the region have many of those yellow and greenish hanging hornet traps set all over the place. We do too!  Time to get the traps out, cleaned, and set out for the season. You have to get the traps baited and up soon as with the warm weather the hibernating queens come to and start looking for places to set up new nests. That one year though, hornets were everywhere! So, Winter Decided It Wasn't Done Quite Yet Around Here!

After last weeks post of me talking about the somewhat short winter so far, it got cold! I mean really cold over the weekend, like two mornings with the lows of +8 (-13C) and +9 (-12C) and 'highs' around 25 (-3C). No one I had talked with thought it would be that THAT cold again this season! Then last night, 02/13/18, there had been a "Winter Storm Watch" issued for the time period of 10 PM Tuesday to 12 noon Wednesday for "up to" 11 inches of snow. Luckily, we didn't get anything near that with about 4 inches overnight and the snow stopped around 10 am and warmed into the mid-30s during the day so what had fallen had begun to melt, clearing off the roads and walkways but staying on the grass. However, for its last blast, we still could get a few more inches of accumulation between now and next Sunday the 18th. Then, the long-term forecast has the daytime temps going back into the mid to upper 30s again in about a week. We'll see! On Monday t...
