Days Coasting On By

And yes they are. Just doing the thing called life as luckily, nothing of real note going on around here. I'm guessing that the real snows of winter '07 - '08 are finished. The temps have been up to the right at 40's in the day and around 32 at night. We've had some periods of rain and even some sunny days so we just worry that it will go warm fast instead of gradually which would cause a good deal of flooding in our area as well as guaranteed flooding in our basement room. There are still mountains of snow piled up all over the north end of the state. Although its starting to 'disappear' there are places around the house that are still four feet deep with snow.
Other things to update.
Laura's information from her husbands family in Las Vegas to her family in Iowa was a little off. But in the big picture of life one isn't that much better than the other, she'd had a mild stroke, not a heart attack as Laura, and we, had been told. Like I said though, it just indicates there are problems that need to be dealt with or it could become the reported condition! Or worse!
Sandy and Erik are by now in Germany. We hope they have a great time! I wish I'd remembered to ask her about checking on a CD of Alpenhorn Music!
Okay, so how would I want to hear that kind of music? Well, back in 1993 we were on a family motorcycle trip that went to Lake Louise in Banff Canada. It was our first visit there but Stacy had been there as a kid and had nothing but good memories of that trip, so we decided to stop there on this 1993 trip. As we were walking around the grounds of the hotel there was an Alpenhorn player set up that was playing towards the glacier. It was very impressive to hear the echoing of the horn in the area of the lake. How do I remember it so well? I recently watched the video I'd taken there in '93!
We want to say our congratulations to cousin Dwight for soon to be graduating with his Masters Degree!
This was the week that both of us slipped and fell on the ice. We'd hoped that we'd gone through enough of the snow and ice that we'd not 'crash'. Well, Stacy was first when she slipped and banged up her knee when walking across a parking lot. Then yesterday I took my tumble when, while driving a bus taking the high school Choir around the area for singing valentines, at one stop the bus got stuck. It was a steep downhill incline and while I made it up without any problem, on the way down at a turn the bus slid wide and into one of the snow banks. As I went to spread some kitty litter for traction by the back wheels, on the way back, slip-boom on the backside and right arm. Nothing broken on me or Stacy, just scrapes and bruises.
We'll try again for no falls next years winter!
I guess enough rambling for this update. Type later, Tad

It looks like our first non-white Christmas since moving to North Idaho.

As I had said the last post, while winter is here now, it just isn't here ! Two hours north, in the Cranbrook, Canada region, cold and snow. About two-hours east, in the Kalispell, Montana area, winter is there too with cold and snow! This area, more like late fall continued with overcast and cloudy with temps in the low 30s at night and high 30s in the daytime. Maybe some rain in the next day or so or a trace of snow overnight to melt away with the "high" temps for what used to be normal for this time of the year. Last week if the temps had not gone into the 40s with heavy rain by Saturday we would have some snow but the temps and the rain washed it all away. I checked with my records from last year and on December 23rd we had gotten 4-inches of snow. Not much but still a white Christmas. Christmas Day we had heavy snow showers but not much new accumulation. This morning the low was 33 degrees with a high expected to be 36 degrees. Sad face! I like the winters her...

So, Winter Decided It Wasn't Done Quite Yet Around Here!

After last weeks post of me talking about the somewhat short winter so far, it got cold! I mean really cold over the weekend, like two mornings with the lows of +8 (-13C) and +9 (-12C) and 'highs' around 25 (-3C). No one I had talked with thought it would be that THAT cold again this season! Then last night, 02/13/18, there had been a "Winter Storm Watch" issued for the time period of 10 PM Tuesday to 12 noon Wednesday for "up to" 11 inches of snow. Luckily, we didn't get anything near that with about 4 inches overnight and the snow stopped around 10 am and warmed into the mid-30s during the day so what had fallen had begun to melt, clearing off the roads and walkways but staying on the grass. However, for its last blast, we still could get a few more inches of accumulation between now and next Sunday the 18th. Then, the long-term forecast has the daytime temps going back into the mid to upper 30s again in about a week. We'll see! On Monday t...

First posting

Ah the choices of setting this up! It will take a little time to 'fine tune' the page, but its a start. Okay so what have we been doing? Well, two weeks ago now Stacy and I went to visit with Mike and Brenda to see their new home as well as visit with my Father and Mother who were visiting. We had to work around Stacy's days off so it was a three day visit with one day there and two travel days. All the storms flooding and disaster in the Seattle area happened right after we'd left. It was a great visit and we really like the new home. I haven't been able to see any of them since last year so I really liked the visit and getting together again. We got the grand area tour which was nice since I'd never spent any time in that part of the state before. The area is very picturesque. Mike's home is very near the flight paths of the area navy base and that brought back memories of our home in California. The first few years we lived there George A.F.B. was still ...
