Four photos from the California trip

Heading South on I-15 in Utah. I'd kind of missed these 100 mile views as I saw them again while driving through this and our old high desert areas of California. It was still cool here but I got to our old area as I went through San Bernardino at the height of a heatwave with temps in the 90's!
All the traffic and congestion of being back in that area for the first time in over 3 years made me glad it was just a visit!
I only wished I hadn't been on such a tight time schedule and had a day free to visit with people I hadn't seen in person in almost 5 years!

I was so surprised to see Primm (or Stateline Nevada) so deserted! This photo of Whiskey Pete's all but empty, it used to never be this empty, any day of the week! The Hotel is closed except for weekends anymore, only open for gambling and the McDonald's inside was the only 'restaurant' open! I'd gone there first to get a room on the way down to San Diego. I Guess most people just drive the 40 minutes more and just go straight to Las Vegas instead of stopping here anymore. Too bad to.

Now all the way back in Montana, a rest stop a little South of Butte on the I-15. No new snow from the day before but a lot of ice on the highway! On the Idaho side there had been mainly sand and dirt for spread for traction by the snow plow trucks, on the Montana side they'd used the liquid de-ice material. In spots in the passes it had refrozen making some really long black ice patches!
Last Photo is from the same spot looking Northerly. Up over the rise and too the right would be Butte. The I-90 interchange with the 15 is a couple of miles West of town, and from that interchange it was about 7 hours to home.

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...

A Historic Day

Yes, one way or the other it will be a historic day today, Election Day in the USA, 2016. Either the "crooked" lifetime politician and first woman to be the president will win or the proven somewhat unstable "megalomaniac" and itching to start a war businessman will win. Personally, I voted for Clinton. A proven lifetime politician outweighs the alternative in my opinion. I heard a comment of with Clinton it will be "The Hunger Games" part one, with Trump it would be "The Hunger Games" part 2!! In our neck of the woods, early voting and absentee voting has been going on for over two months. We voted a couple of weeks ago. Above, in the lobby of the County Courthouse, four early voting stations had been set up for several weeks. 2 non the right and 2 on the left at the desk behind that sign. Below, I took a 'stealth' photo of some people voting. You never can tell in North Idaho what will set off people so I didn't want...

O.M.G.! I haven't posted since February!!!!!

I knew it has been a while, a long while. Not this long though! So, readers in the either, if there are any still around, what's been going on with our life adventure? The high points since February 2018: 1. We almost bought a new truck. 2. While we didn't finally buy a truck in late March, we traded in two-vehicles and bought a 2018 Toyota, Rav4 Hybrid, CUV ( C ompact 'sports'  U tility V ehicle). 3. We had a fantastic summer trip with the granddaughters spending 9 days in Yellowstone last July. The bunkhouse 5th wheel trailer we bought July 2017 right after our June trip in 2017, proved to be the BEST way to comfortably sleep and house the 5 of us, me, Stacy, Sandy, and the granddaughters, for a trip. 4. In August we got Stacy the one RV trailer she's been wanting for several years now, a Winnebago Micro-Minnie, a 20-foot long travel trailer that sleeps two. Stacy used it for a week-long business trip to Boise for state-level meetings just a couple of wee...
