Friday 04/30/2010

Three photos taken earlier today of our town after almost 5 days of Spring rain showers. Top photo shows the trees in front of the court house becoming green again after Winter. Middle photo shows the low rainy clouds that started out the day. Photo shows the towns clock tower, tops of some old brick buildings in town and highway 95/2 going North from the drop down into old town since it sits almost right on the river. And lastly looking East at low clouds and rain out towards Katka Mountain, in the clouds. Although no wind at the time, it has since gotten VERY windy with showers outside with the flags all standing straight out including the giant one in the photo that is at the Library. A more winter in most areas 48 degrees outside too! Stacy's the "big cheese" now. Jackie was in for about an hour this morning and got the last of her things and said her good byes, for now. Officially, Stacy still isn't the boss until midnight tonight. She's in her 'new&

What Difference a Month makes!

So again I'm late! These photos were uploaded last Friday, 4/23/2010, and I haven't been able to get back to them until today. Like the title says, what a difference a month can make! As I'd planned, I took photos last month with the idea of taking from almost the same place to show the "greening" of our area as more spring weather arrives. So these photos are the before and after kind of photos. Top two photos, top one from March second from April, show the trees of our property at the left of the photo. The field in the shot is already growing its first cut of this years alfalfa with a small group of Canadian Geese that have started to be in this field in the mornings. You can also see how our days are getting longer fast too! All these photos were taken at almost the exact same hour of the morning, about 7:40 am, and you can really see how much less shadows are in the April shots. We're already getting light by 4:30 am now and by June it will be around 3:0

This Weeks Area Photos

Top photo is one taken last Saturday afternoon of "Clifty Peak" South of town. The tallest mountain of the area. Taken as we were driving back from the North Bench area of town. Middle photo was taken on my way home from work Wednesday afternoon. This is called "Black Mountain", I'm guessing from the area Indian's decades ago as in summer it does get very dark green. We've been to the top on several quad rides. At the top are the 'translators' for off air TV service. It used to be just 3 mostly fuzzy channels, now with the digital change it's up to 12 generally clear channels. I actually even watch some local channels at times. I like the added PBS channels World and Create. At the top are also microwave repeaters for various governmental agencies, the area ham radio antenna in addition to antennas for who knows what. Also an old fire lookout tower. Last photo was taken last evening on my way home and is of the areas Golf course, Mirror lake

Not a quiet week here!

And that was last week! Today is the 13th even though this post will have the 9th as the day of the post since I'd uploaded the photos that day hoping I'd get right back to it. Wrong! I posted the short note about Stacy officially getting the department head position and had hoped to add to it. However even with the flurry of activity involved in Stacy getting transitioned to the new job, she officially starts on May 1st, its been busy for me too since I've been covering for Carol, the adult probation officer, who's been off because her husband had to have surgery last week. So with Carol off last week and this week and Stacy traveling two days last week and two days this week have made me actually having to WORK at work!! To the photos of this posting. Last week while Carol and her husband were out of town for the operation, Stacy and I had to go to their house twice a day and feed their horses and cats. While Stacy was gone last Wednesday and Thursday I took care o

Finally!!!

After almost two months of Stacy stressing about the Supervisor's job, it was finally announced this morning at the commissioner's meeting that Stacy will be the Chief Probation Officer starting on May 1st! She's on cloud 9 and happy. I am very happy she'll get her turn in a big chair, she's been overlooked and deserved this chance for so long. It was about time and Stacy IS the best one for the job! Shaping up to be another busy week here but I think I should be able to update again before Friday! Tad

From Spring back to Winter for a couple of weeks

I didn't get to posting on Monday, it was a busy week. I did take these photos during the cold and wet week it has been. I guess the 'Ninio' took a break so a more normal weather pattern was able to work down from the North for last week and is predicted for most of the next. Last Monday was snowy and cold. It turned out to stay cold and off and on snowy or rainy the entire week. So much for Spring! Top photo shows one of the storm fronts working its way East from over the Selkirk mountains West of town. Middle photo shows another group of clouds looking East from town. Last photo shows the results in the Cabinet mountains of the mid-week snowfall. Photo taken from the highway looking out towards the county airport. Hopefully this next week we'll find out for positive if Stacy gets bumped up to the "chief" position or not. She's been really stressing over it for weeks now. They really don't have a better choice than Stacy since she's already bee
