Happy May to all. For many I know May means the start of summer over spring although back in the 'old area' of California much of the plants were already starting to go summer dry and brown by now and there would have already been 80 degree days for a while. I recall Memorial Day weekend was often about the time of the first 90 degree days.
Here in Idaho we've had a couple of low 70's days a couple of weeks ago but mainly its still no warmer than mid 50's to 60's. With acclimation to the cooler temps of spring even 70 can feel hot right now. But with the rain the past week green, everything is green, green, green or starting to bloom as my allergies can attest. I'm going around looking like I'm crying much of the time lately with my eyes watering so much. Stacy doesn't get so much the watery eyes as she gets the sneezes and sinus headaches. There's always a trade off right? A nicer area to live and more allergy problems!
Daughter Sandy and her husband found a new apartment to move to at the end of the month. Looks pretty nice in the on-line info she'd sent. Kind of like a condo in arrangement downstairs entry and upstairs bedrooms. Their one bedroom was just too small and since the whole facility had been sold the management has fallen short on repairs and problems yet the rental rates kept going up.
Son Sean told me during the week that his company contract has been renewed for another five years so he's secure for the moment even with the overall economy still down the tubes. He's still a unit supervisor and has been for the last few years now, we're pretty proud of him.
Haven't heard much from Laura lately although she apparently gets a kick out of all the surveys and questionnaires on FaceBook. I don't go on the site all the time usually once a week or two I'll take a look. When I checked it out yesterday most everything on it was something different Laura was trying and 'what did I think?'
Well I'm not interested enough in things like what kind of fish would I like to be, who's my favorite movie star or what my favorite color says about me enough to try any of them but she's been busy!

This weekend? Stacy will be sewing with her friends tomorrow, I'll be changing oil in the vehicles. Worked on my Gold Wing last weekend as the thermostat in one of the two radiators was leaking coolant pretty bad when the pressure would build, so I replaced it and since to replace the sensor you have to drain the coolant out I changed that and the engine oil and filter as well. Still need to change the oil in Stacy's Shadow motorcycle and buy batteries for our Dodge truck. $75 bucks each even at Wal-Mart and the truck takes two of them!
In about two or three weeks I'll have to start mowing again and get the sprayer on the quad to spray the weeds. I'm trying to wait till it's not supposed to rain for a while to do the weed spraying. It is supposed to be rainy by Sunday as well as Tuesday to Thursday next week. Might be able to get a short motorcycle or top down convertible drive in tomorrow for some photos, have to see!

Oh well, that's the update for this May day!

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...

I Must Agree, 2020 Is The Year That Isn't.

I know there are many, many people feeling along those lines.  Luckily, our area has yet to experience a large spike. Even in this rural area, the virus has made it here too. As mentioned before, most of the state cases are in the heavily populated south end of the state but there is still a count of over 38,000 positive and 451-deaths in the state.  As of this post, there has been one confirmed death of a 70-year old male, and there are currently 56-cases in this county. The most recent cases are high school sports students as schools opened on September 8th and at the last minute decided to go back to all 'in-person' classes even with all the preparations of having 'hybrid' classes of 2-days a week at school, 2-days a week online, and rotating to keep the student count down to the advised numbers to limit exposure. Our area schools are all on a 4-day week and have been for many years.  However, with those kids, are also over 65 other students who were identified w...

Four photos from the California trip

Heading South on I-15 in Utah. I'd kind of missed these 100 mile views as I saw them again while driving through this and our old high desert areas of California. It was still cool here but I got to our old area as I went through San Bernardino at the height of a heatwave with temps in the 90's! All the traffic and congestion of being back in that area for the first time in over 3 years made me glad it was just a visit! I only wished I hadn't been on such a tight time schedule and had a day free to visit with people I hadn't seen in person in almost 5 years! I was so surprised to see Primm (or Stateline Nevada) so deserted! This photo of Whiskey Pete's all but empty, it used to never be this empty, any day of the week! The Hotel is closed except for weekends anymore, only open for gambling and the McDonald's inside was the only 'restaurant' open! I'd gone there first to get a room on the way down to San Diego. I Guess most people just drive the 40 ...
