A (Used) New radio for the Gold Wing

So, E-bay finally came through! After a couple of months and bids on 4 different radios, these models don't pop up often, I finally got one. Ironically from the same parts place that I'd almost won from earlier. It arrived yesterday. It wasn't the exact same model as my old fried unit. It was like the unit that was on Stacy's Gold Wing when she had hers. I wasn't concerned so much about the cassette player this time. I just wanted a radio to be able to listen to my XM Satellite Radio again, and to be able to talk and listen to Stacy on the CB Radio. We'd put a compact after market radio/CB unit on her Honda Aero 750 so she can XM out and talk to me from her motorcycle.
That's the problem sometimes with 'integrated' designs such as these. With this model, when the radio failed nothing else could work as it was all piped through the radio unit.
But all is well now. Saved about $700.00 over ordering new, and it all works again! Still don't have a lot of faith in E-Bay yet. Too much of that last minute 'snipeing'. I tried various on-line dismantelers but what two places had units looked like they'd been sitting on a shelf in the weather for about 5 years. Although a bit cheaper, I had visions of going through a few of those non-refundable units before I'd get to one that might work.
So I kept watching and bidding on units that looked in decent shape and where the seller verified it all worked. In other words, I got lucky!

Well in about an hour we're leaving to go visit Mike and Brenda. It is of course going to be the hottest few days there have been all year. Predicted highs for this area are 95 to 102 for the next three days. Guaranteed to be pushing or over that going across mid Washington state. And supposed to be around 90 in the Seattle area. Hot, hot, and more hot! Just like those good ol' days in California when it would be 90 by 9 AM in the mid summer.

We went to the local County Fair last evening. I entered so photos last year and won three out of five first places and 1 grand champion in that photo class. Didn't get any in on time this year but I still wanted to see that and the other things there are to see at a small county fair like ours. It ends on Sunday so we had to go last night if we were to see it at all. Stacy and I made plans for next years fair. She wants to knit some stuff and maybe try baking something again. I've got a few thousand photos to choose from with who knows how many I'll take before next summer!

Guess that's it for now! Type later, Tad

A Historic Day

Yes, one way or the other it will be a historic day today, Election Day in the USA, 2016. Either the "crooked" lifetime politician and first woman to be the president will win or the proven somewhat unstable "megalomaniac" and itching to start a war businessman will win. Personally, I voted for Clinton. A proven lifetime politician outweighs the alternative in my opinion. I heard a comment of with Clinton it will be "The Hunger Games" part one, with Trump it would be "The Hunger Games" part 2!! In our neck of the woods, early voting and absentee voting has been going on for over two months. We voted a couple of weeks ago. Above, in the lobby of the County Courthouse, four early voting stations had been set up for several weeks. 2 non the right and 2 on the left at the desk behind that sign. Below, I took a 'stealth' photo of some people voting. You never can tell in North Idaho what will set off people so I didn't want...

What's been going on since July 24th, the last posting

Stacy to California , On Saturday the 26th Stacy left to drive to Northern California to help out and be with daughter Sandy as the birthday approached for the new grand daughter to be born. As Sandy was going to have a C-section birth, so the actual date was pretty well planned, Sandy had called and was concerned that there was a possibility that new baby would be a bit earlier than anticipated. So with that call Stacy left two days earlier than planned to be there that much sooner and before the doctor's visit to find out one way or the other on the due date. So Stacy made the around 1,000 mile trip in two long days and was there by Sunday night. By the doctor check up on Tuesday morning, the concerns were lessened and the timetable was back on track for the birth on the first of August. Stacy had a great time with almost 2 year old grand daughter Justine, giving mom Sandy a much needed break before starting it all up again with the new baby. Friday August 1st, originally had...

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...
