Since last Tuesday.

Work, work, work. That was most of since last Tuesday. Yesterday (Saturday) we made a day trip of going to Costco and went to the fairly new store in Kalispell Montana. By GPS 142 miles each way, but we hadn't been out Highway 2 to that area since a trip back in 1996. We've lived here now for over two years but with the "local" Costco 'only' 94 miles away, that's the one we usually go to. But it was a really nice day to start. Got a little toasty on the way back, of course not in the air-conditioned truck. Just skirted some late afternoon Thundershowers East of Libby Montana, and took advantage of Montana's no sales tax. The store was a real nice one of the newer designs, like the one we'd sometimes go to back in Loma Linda California. Big exception, even on a Saturday afternoon, NO CROWDS!!! The road itself was loaded with motorcycles out on day runs or overnighters. It seems that most all the bikes seen yesterday were Harleys. Saw a few Gold Win...

Since June 1st.

One of the reasons for this blog was to stay in touch easier. But like so many other ways of communicating, getting it done seems like it should be so easy compared to actually doing it! So, let me see, I had not updated since the first. Most recently we had the people we know, Joan and her husband Don, stop by last week on their around the West and Canada trip they're on. They live in the Las Vegas area and were on the first vacation they'd been able to have in many years. From the things they've been doing on their trip they're having a great time and seeing a lot of pretty country. We picked them up at the motel and took them to dinner at a restaurant that overlooks the very full and near flood stage river. Then Stacy got called in for a "client" problem. so I took them on a tour of this area. It was a perfect time of day, late afternoon, and it was the first day of mostly sunny in a few weeks. It was, as we get to see all the time, beautiful! Everything ...

Today's update

Sandy and Erik came and went Memorial Day weekend. While much cooler than their area, they still enjoyed the visit as did we. The local quad ride for company is apparently a hit. Everyone seems to like the exploration of our area on the quads. With Sean and Brandy it was still snow. For Sandy and Erik it was downed trees from winter and the mosquitoes at every stop we made. Sandy and Erik both had limited experience and got to help move several toppled trees and go over a few we couldn't. Sandy learned the hard way about NEVER putting your foot down a'la motorcycle with a quad. She'd hit a downed tree at a slight angle and so the Honda jumped over the tree. She thought she'd loose control so put her right foot down. Just a slight ding on her ankle. But it hurt her a bit. We went to Canada and because of a delay at the border with all of Sandy's Arab country passport stamps from her travels due to her job, at least we think that was the problem, we missed the Nelson ...

A little catching up.

Well I'll start with a couple of pictures. Above is the amount of snow that was still around when Sean and brandy got here. They couldn't believe it. Still winter then! Although a bit hard to see, Sean is standing in the driveway just taking in a heavy snow shower. That's the way it was that week. It's a slower day today. It shouldn't be, but I'm sick today. Yesterday morning woke up with a sore throat. Last night got the headache and congestion going. This morning a REALLY sore throat and that all over feeling of jerkiness and over all lousy feelings. Probably a fever in it all but I can't find the thermometer. So a little computer time then a TV or movie day. I've got hours of recorded programs on the DVR's to watch and haven't had the time. So I guess today's a good day for some catching up. I always think, maybe one day of relaxation then I can get back to it. It is after all spring and EVERYTHING is growing like crazy. I'm to mow a...

Alas, no Solstice!

Oh well, after a full day at the local gambling hall in an attempt to be the winner of the Pontiac Solstice, Stacy wasn't picked. Too bad, but since I'd mentioned her there on the last post I thought I'd let everybody know if we were zipping around in a new car or not. So, or not is the answer. All the Goodwin's out there that might be looking at this that are also of the somewhat 'geeky' variety, like me by the way, might check out, if you don't already know about him, the website This Week In Technology (TWIT.tv) by Leo Laporte. I know he's nationally syndicated on many local radio stations, I listen to his shows on Saturdays and Sundays on XM channel 158. But he's got a lot of interesting topics about all kinds of tech not just computers. On the TWIT site there are links to podcasts about all kinds of topics, gadgets, security, windows and macs just to name a few. Makes good listening if you're busy doing other things. I'm taking the plung...

Busy, busy, busy

REALLY busy! Start off first with me currently working two jobs. The one paying and the other not.......,well not yet anyway. At the department where Stacy works the person recently hired didn't work out and left so I stepped up and said I'd volunteer. Gives me a chance to see if I'd like to do that job and gives them a chance to see if they'd like me to do the job permanently. So between those hours and the busier busing end of the year rush, I haven't had the opportunity to get working on keeping everyone caught up on our 'happenings'. Sean and Brandy were here their week, from the 19th to the 26th of April. The weather co-operated to give them a taste of what winter is like around here. When they left San Diego it was in the 70's. On arrival at Spokane it was in the low 30's and snow showers. They got to see a lot of snow showers and a few inches of build up for most of the week they were here. Neither Sean nor Brandy had ever seen, in person...

Some Updates and Some Thoughts

Well, we've both been fairly busy the past few weeks with our respective jobs. We had two days of spring weather last weekend, yet this weekend the prediction is for some more snow! The temps have made it to the mid fifties for the most part. This weekend is supposed to be mid forties again though with lows possibly in the teens! Today is Stacy's birthday. It's a love / hate thing for her about birthdays. I prefer them to quietly pass by. No fuss no muss! EVERYBODY gets older, the options to that fact just aren't very appealing as far as I'm concerned! We're looking forward to Sean and wife Brandy's arrival at Spokane this Saturday for a weeks stay. Stacy hasn't seen them both since we moved up here full time in March 2006. Sean was at Sandy's wedding last October in Las Vegas but Brandy couldn't be there. It might be a shock to their systems, it had been working on summer in San Diego according to Sean, 70's to 90's, so when I told him ...
