Oh well, after a full day at the local gambling hall in an attempt to be the winner of the Pontiac Solstice, Stacy wasn't picked. Too bad, but since I'd mentioned her there on the last post I thought I'd let everybody know if we were zipping around in a new car or not. So, or not is the answer.
All the Goodwin's out there that might be looking at this that are also of the somewhat 'geeky' variety, like me by the way, might check out, if you don't already know about him, the website This Week In Technology (TWIT.tv) by Leo Laporte. I know he's nationally syndicated on many local radio stations, I listen to his shows on Saturdays and Sundays on XM channel 158. But he's got a lot of interesting topics about all kinds of tech not just computers. On the TWIT site there are links to podcasts about all kinds of topics, gadgets, security, windows and macs just to name a few. Makes good listening if you're busy doing other things.
I'm taking the plunge. I ordered a refurbished Blackberry to see if it will work to have it all in the phone instead of carting around a phone and a PDA. It's a still available, but not the newest, model. A quad band for those European trips I don't yet make, and unlocked and no contract, everybody I've talked to and read says it should work fine just add the SIM card from the current phone. I really like the idea of the QWERTY key pad. My Razor has been nice, but my favorite phone so far had been a Nokia that opened to a full keypad. Made texting and notes SO easy! When AT&T became Cingular I had to replace it in since it wasn't compatible with the new system. Saved a BUNCH of money on the Blackberry over newest model, which is really a good thing since I don't know of anybody around here that has one. So this is an 'experiment'.
Today at the 'other' job, we're having training on a GPS based tracking system for those "Bad Boys, Bad Boys (and Girls)" that get so bad they need them. Should be interesting. However, when Stacy and I were taking a look at the actual units yesterday, the provided straps sure didn't seem large enough to go around an ankle. Wrist maybe but not the ankle. It wouldn't be the highest of fashion to wear one on the wrist unless you're a super hero or something like that because of the units size and somewhat futuristic style, so we'll have to see what the reps from the company say. I find it interesting that the company is from Utah. Just struck me as odd!
While I like the longer evenings, and they're getting longer each day, those early mornings sometimes are a problem. Like this am, woke up at 3:58 and then with it so bright out and with the birds, especially one that seemed to be right outside the window with a megaphone, I couldn't get back to sleep. We have the alarm set for 6 am but with it getting bright so early we've been waking up around 5:30 or so most of the time. It does make it easier to get up at 4:30 am when I have to for some of the bus routes, like all next week, since its so light out now. In the "dead O' Winter" it was dark until almost 9 am. By June 20th it will be getting light by 3:30 am.
Well, guess I'll have to wrap up this morning chat. Gotta get ready to go!
Type later, Tad
