A short update

So, at this moment Stacy and I are in our RV at a campground in Idaho Falls.

In about a half hour we'll be going back over to the Shilo Inn and Convention center for the banquet evening during the Juvenile Justice Conference for this year.

Tomorrow is the final day of meetings then we start back towards home. It has been a nice trip so far, no problems with the trailer, and this was the first time we have been able to take it on a trip since we got it so this is also been the "shakedown" trip. Everything has worked great and we even had a lot of rain during the evening and night last night and this morning. No leaks or drips inside at all, and we've had the RV with the leaking window seal more than once over the years. But we're very glad our 2015 doesn't leak.
As we've been here for the last few days it has  been interesting seeing all the comings and goings of RV rigs each day.
From really new to new to them older units, quite the variety of sizes and shapes, and I'm not talking about just the people in the RVs either!

Last week back home it had cooled off to the 60s and 70s, when we got here it was around 90 the first days and now it was only in the mid 60s here today, yes!
While rain here the predicted rain at home hadn't happened yet.

What to say about a conference? Long hours in very uncomfortable chairs with not very good food and  a air-conditioning break down making everyone sweating to death in a packed room listening to a guy rambling with a few get to the point moments!

Yeah, seems like a usual conference!

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...

"SouthLAnd", the TV show and our experiences.

Just watched the premiere episode of this new show "Southland" during my lunch today on HULU. It premieres on Thursday night at 10 PM on NBC, it's the ER replacement experiment. It was pretty good overall, it tries to be more real and more "COPS" than COPS, but for an overall view of some real life in the big city it works, even if it is a scripted TV show. You can check it right now and watch it on hulu.com About 15 minutes into the show was a realistic call that involved the new rookie officer and his experienced training officer (the actor that plays this guy usually plays hard arsed bad guys), they are responding to a DB which means Dead Body call with dogs in the house. After taking a look they call out Animal Control and after the ACO's come out and get the dogs the police officers go and check inside to find the dead guy and that his dogs, locked up with no way out, had munched on their deceased owner. The sight made the 'rookie' guy sick and...

Life as "retired"

Yes, I am now retired! 5-months ago. It was weird at first; seemed like I was just off work for a few days.  I had to drive to southern California for most of the month of April, which added to that 'on vacation' feel.  The first long trip in over two years. It was something; gas was very expensive but even more so in California!  I was glad to take our Rav4. I had been planning to take our truck. However, just a week before, we'd taken it in to get checked out, which was a major expense and a wait for the parts, so I took the Toyota. It saved a lot of money, although I planned to take the truck and the small trailer for a room instead of moteling it.  With the high cost of ..... everything!, would it have saved as much as I'd hoped? Probably not in reality, but it worked as it did. As the Rav4 is a hybrid, I was able to get an average of 37 mpg, and that was keeping the adaptive cruise control set about 66 to 69 miles per hour which is plenty fast, even with m...
