A fine spring day!!

Oh, wait! It's JANUARY 14th! But it IS a day more like late March then mid January. It is 43 outside right now and not the usual for this time of year 15 or 20's in the daytime. Last night it got down to 36! Yesterday on my Google Reader I saw a story from Seattle on the North West Cable News site about how for winter, this is pretty much it for the year! Some snow, a lot of rain and its expected to be warmer and dryer through March. The story blames it on the predicted "El Ninio" down near California. And I'd agree. Every cold snap from Canada (normal this time of year) has been followed or taken over by a warm moist front from down south (not normal for this time of year). But because it IS still 'Winter' and has short days and the off and on cold weeks, the ground is still pretty frozen so while the streets are mostly clear, dirt or gravel driveways (like ours) are covered with a nice thick layer of ICE and the melting snow mixed with rain is creating

Snow and no snow in 2010

It has been a weird winter so far in December and January. It has settled into a pattern of cold and snowy then within a day or so it warms up and rains washing down most of the snow on the roads and in our case the driveway. Above was taken on the morning of the first just before I went out and plowed the driveway with the Polaris quad with the snow plow on the front. It snowed most of the day on New Years eve and day before turning to rain during the night of the first. Below was taken today, January 3rd, and you can see how rain and 41 degrees has made a small pond, five inches deep, in our driveway that was less than two days before four inches deep in snow! Stacy and I enjoyed the long holiday weekend, 4 days!, and did a lot of work at the property. Stacy's father and her brother Scott had taken our Dodge and 5th wheel down to Quartzite Arizona on the 23rd of December. Sandy, Sean, and their spouses as well as Scott's daughter and husband drove out to Quartzite and spent
