Getting back to normal

It has taken a few days, almost a week actually, but Stacy and I have almost gotten our biological clocks reset to Pacific Time from Central European Time. I'm up to sleeping until 5:30 am or so from being wide awake from 1:30 to 2:30 am. Stacy is sleeping to 5:30 to almost alarm time of 6:00 am. We're both still fighting to stay up to 9:00 pm though!
The nine hour time difference makes most of Germany's daytime during our night and most of our daytime during their night.
This week has been getting back in the swing of things at work, I've been transferring the video we took on the trip to DVD. We took about 4 hours worth of video on the SD cards. Taking that video to the computer then converting it to DVD has taken DAYS! Everyday since Monday and getting only two disks done a day it takes so long. The last disk, number 5, is a partial so it actually should be done before we go home tonight.
So tomorrow I'm back to sorting the photos and get at least some on-line by tomorrow afternoon. Final totals; Stacy at just under 1000 photos, Sandy with almost 500 and I took 560 photos. So I'm trying to get what seems to be the best of everybody's photos without showing the same photos taken 3 times. Then add captions etc, I know how it helps to know what you're looking at but it all takes time.

Now that we're back I'm having that old feeling of it seeming like we never went anywhere!

We also came back to very COLD temps! It was snowing and around 20 degrees when we got back to Spokane last Saturday (12/5) afternoon. Even with everybody in Germany dressed like it was the arctic, it had been in the upper 40's for all but one of the days of our visit. So I was very comfortable for the most part and wearing a light jacket for most of the trip. We get back here and it's the 20's and just gets colder to several nights of below zero temps with "highs" of around 10 above zero. It's supposed to 'warm up' to the 20's again and snow this weekend. Want to check it out yourself, take a look at KREM.com, the Spokane CBS station and a 'local' TV station for us. Like the old areas in California I sometimes check on line, you can get the area weather forecast from the morning news on their website.

OK, the last disk is almost done on the laptop! I can start on the photos again, so more later. Tad

Last August 3rd, the only car dealer in town, Riverside Motors had a fire destroy their offices and showroom. Above was during the fast moving 20 minute fire. Below was taken less than 15 minutes ago and shows their new showroom/offices just about ready to move into. The rubble from the burn down was gone in less than two weeks and crews worked all during the coldest part of winter building this new building. It was moved to the back of the property and cars were moved up to the front. Since the fire the 'offices' were moved out to trailers not visible in the photo but to the left of the new building. Riverside also lost the GM part of the sales and service end of it with the GM restructuring. Too bad for the owners of all the GM cars and trucks in the area, like us, we have to drive to Sandpoint to a dealer there for GM service etc. About 35 miles away now. Riverside is now just a Chrysler/Dodge dealer service location. Pretty building though! Photo below actually occurred ...

A Historic Day

Yes, one way or the other it will be a historic day today, Election Day in the USA, 2016. Either the "crooked" lifetime politician and first woman to be the president will win or the proven somewhat unstable "megalomaniac" and itching to start a war businessman will win. Personally, I voted for Clinton. A proven lifetime politician outweighs the alternative in my opinion. I heard a comment of with Clinton it will be "The Hunger Games" part one, with Trump it would be "The Hunger Games" part 2!! In our neck of the woods, early voting and absentee voting has been going on for over two months. We voted a couple of weeks ago. Above, in the lobby of the County Courthouse, four early voting stations had been set up for several weeks. 2 non the right and 2 on the left at the desk behind that sign. Below, I took a 'stealth' photo of some people voting. You never can tell in North Idaho what will set off people so I didn't want...

O.M.G.! I haven't posted since February!!!!!

I knew it has been a while, a long while. Not this long though! So, readers in the either, if there are any still around, what's been going on with our life adventure? The high points since February 2018: 1. We almost bought a new truck. 2. While we didn't finally buy a truck in late March, we traded in two-vehicles and bought a 2018 Toyota, Rav4 Hybrid, CUV ( C ompact 'sports'  U tility V ehicle). 3. We had a fantastic summer trip with the granddaughters spending 9 days in Yellowstone last July. The bunkhouse 5th wheel trailer we bought July 2017 right after our June trip in 2017, proved to be the BEST way to comfortably sleep and house the 5 of us, me, Stacy, Sandy, and the granddaughters, for a trip. 4. In August we got Stacy the one RV trailer she's been wanting for several years now, a Winnebago Micro-Minnie, a 20-foot long travel trailer that sleeps two. Stacy used it for a week-long business trip to Boise for state-level meetings just a couple of wee...
