Monday the 25th- Sports Car Talk

A couple of posts ago I was talking about the sports cars of my past. Well here's photos of three of them. I still don't get the adding photos part of this blog to get them in the order or where I want them! Anyway, Me standing next to my first Fiero, 1985 5 speed on a test drive after we'd replaced the motor- a whole lot of work! But the Fiero was, I think anyway, an underrated car. That '85 got about 32 MPG on the highway on regular gas. For most people the biggest problem was it was so low to the ground! It was pretty difficult to get in and out of for some because of that design. Even the Solstice is taller. My favorite Fiero was the 1987 I bought at a yard sale! I wasn't at the yard sale itself, I was at work at a call next door. After I finished the call I went next door to talk about the car. They were the original owners and had bought it new in '87. But things had happened and they couldn't afford it anymore in 1998, so it was at the yard sale. I

Some Weekend Photos

Above is Mike and Brenda's place Below, looking from the kitchen into the living room. Brenda at left and Stacy at right. Below is Mike at his desk with me standing. Stacy took the photo after he'd just gotten his computer back from repair and was checking it out. Seemed to be in good as 'pretty new' shape. Below is the Solstice as seen from my office window. There are more photos in the Picasa Web album.

How Hot Was It?

We had the quick trip to Mike and Brenda's house near Seattle last weekend. I'd mentioned in the previous post that it was expected to be about the hottest few days of the whole summer. It did not disappoint, but we sure wish it had! On the drive out it was upper 90's and low 100's from Spokane out to the pass just outside of Seattle. It cooled down to the 90's then. We got to Mike's about 9:30 pm, and after a tour of the new place and a visit we all called it a night. The next day it started out warm and humid. As these homes are supposed to be in an area that usually isn't hot, guess what, NO AIR CONDITIONING! So while I enjoyed the visit and getting to see most all of his home videos, it was just a bit of a miserable hot and sweaty day. By his temp sensor on his porch it got up to 95 by the afternoon. We had a great dinner, watched some Olympic coverage and that was the day. Sunday morning we all went out to a local IHOP restaurant and then we headed east

A (Used) New radio for the Gold Wing

So, E-bay finally came through! After a couple of months and bids on 4 different radios, these models don't pop up often, I finally got one. Ironically from the same parts place that I'd almost won from earlier. It arrived yesterday. It wasn't the exact same model as my old fried unit. It was like the unit that was on Stacy's Gold Wing when she had hers. I wasn't concerned so much about the cassette player this time. I just wanted a radio to be able to listen to my XM Satellite Radio again, and to be able to talk and listen to Stacy on the CB Radio. We'd put a compact after market radio/CB unit on her Honda Aero 750 so she can XM out and talk to me from her motorcycle. That's the problem sometimes with 'integrated' designs such as these. With this model, when the radio failed nothing else could work as it was all piped through the radio unit. But all is well now. Saved about $700.00 over ordering new, and it all works again! Still don't have a

Just Kinda Coasting......

Like it says above, that's about all that's been going on. Getting into a routine now with the full time work. Stacy's father went to visit friends in Kansas giving me and Stacy a nice little "staycation" ( I know, I know, it's a new buzz word!) with him away for 10 days. This weekend we're trekking to the Seattle area to visit and see brother Mike's new house that's 'in the city'. He had a real nice house out in Oak Harbor last time. We're hoping his new one is just a nice, sure looks like it is in the photos we saw. Just no ocean view anymore. Labor day weekend Stacy and I will be spending a few days down in Northern California to help my other brother and sister take care of moms two 20 X 20 storage rooms. With most of that floor to ceiling stuff, it's been locked away like the Spruce Goose was for over a decade. No one's been out very often. In early July even mom said she hadn't been out to storage facility in abo
