Some Updates and Some Thoughts

Well, we've both been fairly busy the past few weeks with our respective jobs. We had two days of spring weather last weekend, yet this weekend the prediction is for some more snow! The temps have made it to the mid fifties for the most part. This weekend is supposed to be mid forties again though with lows possibly in the teens! Today is Stacy's birthday. It's a love / hate thing for her about birthdays. I prefer them to quietly pass by. No fuss no muss! EVERYBODY gets older, the options to that fact just aren't very appealing as far as I'm concerned! We're looking forward to Sean and wife Brandy's arrival at Spokane this Saturday for a weeks stay. Stacy hasn't seen them both since we moved up here full time in March 2006. Sean was at Sandy's wedding last October in Las Vegas but Brandy couldn't be there. It might be a shock to their systems, it had been working on summer in San Diego according to Sean, 70's to 90's, so when I told him ...

Some Grad Pictures Plus.......

Stacy receiving her successful completion paperwork. I'm VERY proud of her!! Below getting congrats from several of her instructors Okay then..... Well I'll need to practice a bit more with adding multiple photos to the blog. Been working with it for a while now and can't figure how to move them around to add the text. Anyway, the two above show the flags indicating the 'gentle breezes' that seem to blow often in that area. And then the stage just before the graduation. Above is the graduation group marching in. Below and a little into the graduation ceremony, the successful grads are being duly sworn in as newly 'minted' J.P.O.'s for the state of Idaho and their respective counties and cities. Now that it's over, Stacy was told of rumors that it is just too much information to continue to cram into a two week program. So next year it might be a three or four week course. But as I said, shes done! For me, well its spring break! So I have a week off a...

We're home

Made it home on Saturday in the late evening. Sure was glad to be here. Yep, the house was still standing and there was even some food left in the refridgerator. Not bad for two guys!! I have to go to work tomorrow, and I hope the day isn't too crazy with things to fix or attend to! Sean and Brandy will be here in a few weeks, can hardly wait for that.

Reporting from Baker City Oregon.......

Well I flew down yesterday from Spokane to Boise for Stacy's graduation from the POST Academy. Because of all the still winter weather in this area, the plane from Los Angeles was delayed thirty minutes. Got to Boise, got the car and headed to Meridian to the motel. Stacy was able to meet with me after her dinner at the Academy and we got to spend some time talking about all that's happened in the past almost two weeks. Then she had to get back for her final night there. They were checking all the attendees out from their rooms by 7 am, so she was up by 5:30 am to get the room to the necessary specks for the final room check. I got to the Idaho State Police training facility at about 11 am (10 by my watch because the south end of the state is on mountain time) for the 1 pm ceremony. I watched some Utah to Oregon motorcycle police training at the adjoining track for a while, glad that I didn't ride my Gold Wing down like we'd originally talked about. It was "unseaso...

Hello to all

First day of spring. The snow has been slowly disappearing. It has stayed cool enough to keep it all from rapidly melting and quickly flooding the basement or cause too many problems for area people. So that has been nice. I was very concerned we'd be really bailing out the basement if the weather had warmed up fast like it used to in California. Winters there were more often than not a long fall, a few weeks of 'winter' like weather followed by a month or so of spring before going to blazin' hot by May. For our area here the first day of spring meant morning temps of upper 20's around 5:30 am followed by about an hour of heavy snow at 8:30 am. This afternoon it became windy, partially sunny, but still cold and only about 44 for the high. Stacy is winding up her first week of her two week stint at the Juvenile Probation Officer (JPO) P.O.S.T. Academy near Boise. Because of the distance, about 500 miles, she's going to stay down there for the weekend. Plan ...

An Adventure in Moving!

Last post was way back on Feb 20th. Guess you could say we've been pretty busy! Most interesting thing that's happened just happened last weekend------- Last Friday(3/7) to Saturday(3/8) we helped by transporting the belongings of a friend of Stacy's move from this area to the Seattle area. I'd drive the 28 foot U-Haul, Stacy would follow in our truck for the return trip. I went with the friend on Thursday to pick the truck up about an hour away, got it to her place and then helped load with her other friends until I had to leave to go drive that afternoon. I was surprised with U-Haul. While the truck itself was in good shape, as I was checking it over before leaving the U-Haul facility, I checked the engine to find it had no coolant in the overflow tank and was at least a quart low on oil. I went back to the office and asked for coolant and oil only to be told that they aren't serviced there so they don't keep anything like that there. I'd have to get them...

Meet the Nielsen's

No, not us. But for a week starting tomorrow we're a "Nielsen" TV rating family! We got a call last month asking if we'd be interested. I said sure! Why not! So yesterday we got the booklets to fill out and then send back. It might be interesting since the majority of TV shows we normally watch are not on or in continual re-runs from the writers strike. I've read that some will be back in April or May for a few shows, while others won't be on again until next fall now. So, I know that everybody wants to get what they believe is 'their piece of the pie'. But with many articles being written about more and more people turning away from "traditional" network programming, I'd kinda think that the just ended strike would have been the worst thing possible! Other news, well our weather has remained pretty stable- cold! In talking with Laura yesterday, in her area of Iowa they're dealing with snow and cold like we'd had last month. She ...
