Stacy's Birthday trip- Part 2

From Glacier Park we explored the Columbia Falls area and drove around on our way back towards Kalispel. I'd wanted to go a different way back instead of highway 2 but we thought that with all the snow still around on the back roads we might come across some closed road that would make for lengthy detours so we decided to stay in Kalispel and still go back the "2" on Sunday. We stayed at a one year 'new' Holiday Inn Express in the North end of town, and because it was Stacy's birthday we got a free room upgrade to a very nice suite, on the top floor! Even with a bunch of families staying for a wrestling meet, it was very quiet and we slept wonderfully! On our way back Sunday we stopped to take some photos of a couple of Bald Eagles and when we got to it we stopped at a place we'd always talked about stopping at but never had until now. The Kootenai River Falls is a scenic rest stop on Highway 2 between Libby, Montana and Troy, Montana. About a half mile w

Stacy's Birthday weekend trip- part 1

We decided to take a weekend trip for Stacy's birthday. We talked and talked about where to go, we narrowed it down to three directions/locations/areas to see that could easily be explored in an overnight weekend trip. We had to work around the third person in our department already having the Friday, Stacy's birthday, off. We were in luck that it has been a slow last week and the department head let Stacy and me go a few hours early and flexing out some overtime. So we'd packed up the small amount of things needed for a short trip and just had to go home pack up the car and go. An hour after we'd left the office we were driving by it on our way out of town heading East. We'd decided this trip would be to the Kalispel area of Montana, about 140 miles away. On the way out it was cold and overcast so I didn't take any photos on the way out. At the Montana border we lost an hour to the mountain time zone but it was still light at 9:00 pm long after we'd gotten

Thursday, ............just after noon....

The noontime 'air raid' siren/noon whistle just went off about 5 minutes ago. Can't hear it from home but it's loud and clear downtown at the office. I'm listening to XM, of course, and listening to My Friend Irma. They don't have many episodes of this show but I haven't heard this episode in quite a while. The actress that plays Irma sounds very much like a girl I used to know, and even has her logic! You have to know the show, but as written and played, she must have been one of the early really ditsy blond characters. Not much going on, it's been spring like and much of the snow has evaporated as the temps climbed. EVERYTHING is getting green very fast! Although just about 60 right now, a couple of days ago was practically a heat wave with temps getting into low 70's! I'm guessing no more sticking snow until next fall now! When your body gets used to those much cooler temps a sudden rise like this can seem so hot and like 90 instead of 70.

"SouthLAnd", the TV show and our experiences.

Just watched the premiere episode of this new show "Southland" during my lunch today on HULU. It premieres on Thursday night at 10 PM on NBC, it's the ER replacement experiment. It was pretty good overall, it tries to be more real and more "COPS" than COPS, but for an overall view of some real life in the big city it works, even if it is a scripted TV show. You can check it right now and watch it on hulu.com About 15 minutes into the show was a realistic call that involved the new rookie officer and his experienced training officer (the actor that plays this guy usually plays hard arsed bad guys), they are responding to a DB which means Dead Body call with dogs in the house. After taking a look they call out Animal Control and after the ACO's come out and get the dogs the police officers go and check inside to find the dead guy and that his dogs, locked up with no way out, had munched on their deceased owner. The sight made the 'rookie' guy sick and
